I would like to share with you an extremely wonderful film I have watched. The title of the film is Home, a 2015 American 3D computer-animated science-fiction buddy comedy film. Produced by Dreamwork Animation and distributed by 20th Century Fox. The 94 minutes film was produced by Mireille Soria, Chris Jenkins and Suzanne Buirgy. Directed by Tim Johnson as an animated film, it features voiceovers by the likes of Jim Parsons, Rihanna, Steve Martin, Jennifer Lopez, and Matt Jones. I am going to share with you various aspects of the film which I found very interesting.

Firstly, let me talk about the cast. The main character are Oh an alien race called the Boov whose voiceover is done by Jim Parsons, and a teenage girl named Gratuity “Tip” Tucci, whose voice is animated by Rihanna a famous Hollywood singer. The other characters are Captain Smek whose voice by Steve Martin, and Lucy Tucci, Tip’s mother who takes voice of a famous actress Jennifer Lopez. The other supporting characters are Kyle, Gorg, and The Boovs.

Well, the film is based on The True Meaning of Smekday is a children’s book by Adam Rex, In 2008 Dreamworks Animation optioned the book’s rights to adapt it into an animated film. On June 20, 2012, it was revealed that the title of the film would be Happy Smekday. September 2012, 20 Century Fox and Dreamworks Animation announced the release for November 26, 2014, until it was delayed to March 27, 2015. In June 2013, the film was retitle Home.

Now, allow me to share with you the wonderful storyline of Home. The film starts off with The Boovs on the run from their enemy called Gorg the planet destroyers, the boov find Earth a suitable place to call home lead by Captain Smek. One of the Boov named Oh is different than other he decides to invite the Boov to his apartment for a housewarming party but despite the race’s antiphaty towards him. Not far from Oh is a girl named Tip who drives away through her home city to find her mother Lucy after being separed from her during the invasion.

Oh runs into the the street to meet up with a Boov cop named Kyle and Oh invites him to the party and decides to send a mass invite to every Boov on Earth. However, the “send all” button he pressed actually sends the invite to absolutely every alien race in the entire galaxy including the Gorg. Everyone aggravated with Oh for revealing their location to the enemy and starts chasing him down.

Meanwhile Oh ran out from the Boov and hiding, Oh and Tip across each other in convenience store, and Tip’s car fails to start and Oh tranforms it into a fantastical hovering craft to continue transportation. Oh hitches a ride with Tip when he promises to help Tip find her mother Lucy, but unfortunately they must to go to the Boov command center in Paris and locate her mother from there.

The climax of the film as Oh and Tip head off to Australia, they see other Boov riding by them in fear, and realize that a Gorg ship is close behind them. Tip and Oh manage to knock it down, but in the process a chunk of it hits them and they lose their fuel.

Tip and Oh make it to Australia and see the Boov evacuating to their mothership. Tip start run to for her mother but Oh insists on evacuating with the other Booz instead. Tip angry because Oh break the promise and they separate for a while, In the Boov mothership Oh came out with the Gorg chip and help the others Booz from Gorg. However, after Oh tells the Boov what he learned from Tip, Kyle grabs Smek’s shusher and gives it to Oh and declaring him the new captain. Oh returns to Tip and help her track down Lucy. The mother mother and daughter finally reunite and thank Oh and Oh realize the shusher is what Gorg wants. Oh runs to the Gorg ship and returns the rock shusher to Gorg, which turns out to be an egg for a millions of developing Gorg next generation.

Two weeks later, the humans have returned to their original homes, and Oh finally gets to have his party at his apartment, with both humans and Boov in attendance.

The story has many strong points. The cinematography are very excellent through the islands from planet’s more scenic landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower is looks so realistic. The film is visually stunning with its brilliant colours and all other setting which is nice and awesome for the viewers.

The Home screenplay is all about the fun, but it also has a lot of heart and very touching. For example the fun where is when Oh says “ Confusion. What is happening to my body?” and Tip replies “It’s called dancing” and then they start dancing in the car. And the another is touching is when Tip says “You lied to me” and Oh says “ No, a lie is a bad thing. I did a thing so you can live.” Oh tried to help Tip from danger.

Home imparts several important moral values too. The first and fundamental lesson is do not over thinking and jugde a person. If Captain Smek not too over thinking about interpersonal of Gorg it would not have war between Booz colony and Gorg. The film actually stresses on the importance of a person thinking between zero and hundred.

We also see the importance of teamwork, when Tip and Oh trying to find mother Lucy and hiding from police Kyle and Booz. Tip have a big trust on Oh which mean in this film they show the moral value of trust.

Oh and Tip also remind us that a person do many mistake and nobody perfect. When Tip and Oh talking next the car, Tip mention that nobody perfect and her mom said your mistake what make you human. The film also stresses on the importance value of kind-heartedness.

The film also lacks of the storyline. Encouraging kids to rethink convention or family and others, fearfulness. My dear friend, there is no denying that the film has many positive qualities. But only one must need to improve is the Tip character have a big girl voice. It seem like not match to the character.

To make its beautiful, Home nomminated Outstanding Achievement Animated Effect in an Animated Production during Annie Awards.

The film has made to the box office and grossed $177.4 million in North America and has grossed $208.6 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $386 million. Home was heading to No.1 in its opening weekend,it scored one of the biggest opening days for a Dreamwork Animation.

All in All, Home has received much critical acclaim from critics. In late 2015 James Rocci of The Wrap gave the film a positive review. The film has rating of 47% based on 114 reviews, with an average rating of 5.3/10 by Rotten Tomatoes.

To recapitulate, the film is absolutely great and what matters most is the storyline, character, imagination and heart. Home has it all. Home is a great film filled with all the various of action comedy and drama and the adventure are totally different with others animated film. I have watched it many times, because each time I discover and learn something new. So friend, if you still have not watched Home, please grab a CD or DVD. I sure you guys will be treated 94 minutes of non-stop adventure, fun, action, and excitement. Thank you for listening.
